Welcome
Tell
Melvin Consulting has
been overwhelmed by the needs of the public for an advocate for their
concerns. Because the community’s voice has gone unheard there are
countless programs that are poorly funded. There also are proposals
and programs written by churches, small businesses, and social groups
have never seen the light of day because no one knew the next step in
the tedious process of establishing new programs. These groups are in
need of someone who can help them navigate their project through the
maze of bureaucracy. There seems to be two types of customers of Tell Melvin Consulting. Those who have projects currently
in the pipeline seem stalled by red tape. These clients are in need
of someone with the contacts and resources to expedite the process and
cut through some of that mountain of red tape. There are others who
need someone the help them organize themselves, their proposals, public
awareness, and their projects while empowering them to reach their goals.
Melvin
Whitley, a community activist and founder of Tell
Melvin Consulting has
worked to develop political empowerment in targeted low-income neighborhoods
for more than four decades. He has enjoyed success because of his ability
to build coalition campaigns with other neighborhood organizations at
the local, state and national levels. The training workshops he conducted
included: (1) Why organize? (2) How to conduct a meeting,
(3) Picking an Issue, (4) Power Structure Analysis, (5)
Building a Membership Base, (6) Strategy and Tactics for Winning,
(7) Media and Publicity Planning, and (8) Steps in Coalitions
Building.
